Infrastructure investments
Municipalities in Hesse are investing in motorhome pitches to attract tourists and support local businesses. In Alsfeld (Central Hesse), a 45-pitch site with electricity supply accounts for about a quarter of all overnight stays in the town — 23,000 per year — and there are plans to add 28 more pitches. According to city marketing, motorhome travellers spend between 50 and 70 euros per day in Germany.
Other towns
Eltville and Kiedrich are also developing motorhome infrastructure. In Kiedrich (Rheingau), three new motorhome pitches have been set up, including pitches at wineries. Eltville (Rheingau) has an existing pitch but is looking for new solutions, as having a motorhome offering is considered essential for a tourist town.
