Gulf State Park in Alabama held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 11 for its new RV campground. The expansion added 103 full-hookup premium sites, raising the total number of RV sites to 607. Officials say this makes it the largest state park-operated RV campground in the United States.
The new campground was built on the site of a former golf course. Amenities include a clubhouse, saltwater pool, pickleball courts, a putting green, a playground, a snack bar, and pavilions. The project is part of $85 million in state park investments approved by voters in 2022. According to one source, the campground operates at 90% occupancy year-round, which drove the expansion.
