Caravan park on Llangollen Canal put up for sale for £1.35m

A planning application has been submitted to create six overnight motorhome bays at Mill Street Car Park in Llangollen as part of a Denbighshire County Council pilot scheme. The proposal includes water supply, waste disposal facilities, and recycling bins, with stays limited to 48 hours. The scheme would reduce existing car parking by 29 spaces and is part of a broader initiative to address unauthorized overnight parking.

The Lake District National Park Authority has granted retrospective planning permission for a static caravan placed in ancient woodland, despite acknowledging some harm. The caravan was installed on the site of a demolished garage at Great Tower Scout Camp on Cartmel Fell. The approval, granted on August 7, requires reducing the deck and carrying out compensatory tree planting within a year. The planning report noted the garage demolition was not permitted development, but the caravan could remain as ancillary staff accommodation, providing a significant fallback position.

Cumberland Council planners have approved an additional 19 caravan pitches at Camelot Caravan Park in Longtown, near the A7. The decision was made on Monday, August 10. The extension will be located on the north-east boundary of the existing site, adjacent to woodland. Access will be via an existing road, and the layout will mirror the current park. The council noted the site is well screened by vegetation and will not impact neighboring properties, deeming the proposal compliant with planning policies.

Residents of Dobrudden Farm Caravan Park in Baildon, home to about 100 people, are worried about the possible sale of the land owned by Bradford Council. The Lawrence family, which has run the park for 70 years, failed to buy the freehold after a higher bid from another party. The sale decision has been called in for further review, with no final decision made.

Council leader Mike Bell called it a 'perennial issue' and is seeking a review of council powers to address problems like litter, waste, noise, and antisocial behaviour. He has asked residents to report affected locations and issues.
