Sunshine Coast Council is preparing a trial to reopen the Beerwah campground, closed since 2023, allowing self-contained RVs and caravans to stay up to three nights without power or amenities. Bookings will be managed online with commercial fees. The proposal has support from local businesses and the Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia, which notes about 940,000 registered RVs in the country, with many travelers seeking safe overnight parking.
