Houston Astros player Yordan Alvarez, who leads the American League in three major categories, told AP that his favorite off-field activity is traveling in the family's Grand Design RV, worth about $230,000. Alvarez, who leads the league in batting average (.316), RBIs (94), and is tied for first in home runs (37), spent the offseason at campgrounds where he hunts and fishes. He noted that in the RV, no one recognizes him, allowing him to feel like a normal person.
Alvarez drives the RV himself. He admitted that driving it was initially intimidating, but he got used to it after a week. Last year, he traveled through Florida, and during spring training he lived in the RV parked at a friend's house in West Palm Beach.
