Police in the Hochsauerland district held a prevention campaign in Olsberg and Hüsten, offering drivers of motorhomes and caravans free weighing of their vehicles. Around 35 combinations in Olsberg and 60 in Hüsten took up the voluntary offer. Officers checked load securing and safety aspects together with drivers, and answered questions. The campaign was deemed a success: most drivers realistically assessed their vehicle's weight, but some experienced an 'aha effect' after identifying minor optimisation opportunities.
