Hyundai Motor Group's cumulative hybrid sales in the US reached 1.487 million units by May 2026, with a milestone of 1.5 million expected within the month. Approximately 65% of sold hybrids (970,000 units) were RV models, including SUVs and minivans, reflecting US consumer preferences. The Tucson HEV led sales with 258,000 units, followed by the Sportage HEV (199,000) and Santa Fe HEV (159,000).
Hyundai Motor Group is adjusting its US production strategy by expanding hybrid output at the HMGMA plant, originally built for EVs. By May 2025, cumulative US hybrid sales reached about 1.487 million units, with 65% from RV models (SUVs and minivans). The Tucson Hybrid led sales (258,000), followed by Sportage Hybrid (199,000) and Santa Fe Hybrid (159,000). Kia recently started Sportage Hybrid production at HMGMA, turning the plant into a flexible facility for both EVs and hybrids.
Changan Fengjing RV has launched the Changan Hunter Feizhu, a new pickup-based motorhome priced at 24.98 million yuan. Built on the Changan Hunter K70 chassis, it is positioned as a hybrid off-road pickup motorhome. It features a 2.0-liter BlueCore hybrid powertrain with dual electric motors, delivering a combined torque of 555 Nm, and a 43.47 kWh CATL battery with 2C fast charging. Total energy capacity in full charge and fuel mode is 239 kWh. The removable aluminum living module allows the vehicle to be used as a regular pickup for daily commuting. Inside, it offers sleeping space for 3–4 people, a folding table, and a sink. Standard equipment includes a 2 kW induction cooker, carbon monoxide and smoke alarms, and a 2 kg fire extinguisher.
Evotrex, a developer of hybrid caravans, has closed a $30 million Series A round, bringing total funding to $46 million. Investors include GSR United Capital, Forebright Concerto Capital, Pegasus Capital, TTGG Ventures, and seed investor Anker. The PG5 model features a 43 kWh battery, 1.5 kW solar panels, and a 75 kW gasoline generator, enabling off-grid stays of up to 7 days. It also supports regenerative braking and V2V charging at up to 60 kW. The Premium trim is priced at approximately $159,990.
MDC has launched the XT16HR East West MK4, a hard-floor hybrid off-road caravan for the Australian market. It features a 48V electrical platform with lithium batteries and inverter, enabling efficient use of air conditioning, induction cooking, and refrigeration during extended stays away from powered sites. The caravan sleeps up to four people, includes a full ensuite, and is built with independent suspension and off-road chassis. Pricing and specifications vary by dealer and state.
An overseas buyer paid $45m for Hahei Beach Resort on the Coromandel Peninsula, New Zealand, with approval from the Overseas Investment Office. Tasman Tourism New Zealand, a joint venture between an Australian private equity firm and a UAE-based investment company, also bought Raglan Sunset Motel for $5m. Both properties were sold by New Zealand investment group Hahei Beach Limited, which purchased them in 2015 for $13.25m and $3.88m respectively.
A new Chinese motorhome, the Xingyu Dongfeng Xiaokang 2026, has entered the Russian market. Built on a Dongfeng Xiaokang chassis, it measures 5780 × 2115 × 2790 mm and is powered by a 2.0L petrol engine producing 143 hp, paired with a manual transmission. The living module includes a 400 Ah lithium-ion battery, 400 W solar panels, a refrigerator, induction hob, air conditioning, and a diesel heater. The price is 3.509 million rubles turnkey in Moscow, including customs clearance.
Hobby has introduced the updated Excellent Edition caravan range for the 2027 model year. Key interior changes include light wood and white cabinet fronts, a ship deck-style floor, and blue upholstery with a gray option. Externally, models feature an additional red decorative stripe. The lineup includes 8 floor plans from 6.64 to 8.33 m in length, with prices starting at approximately €28,000.
California-based Polydrops has unveiled the P21X off-road caravan, designed for towing by electric vehicles. It features 1.3 kW solar panels and a 5–10 kWh battery. A large rear spoiler reduces drag to preserve the tow vehicle's range. Price starts at $76,900, with only 20 hand-built units planned.
Bürstner has introduced a limited-edition B66 CV campervan series to celebrate its 66th anniversary in 2026. The models are based on the Fiat Ducato with a 140 hp engine and automatic transmission. Three floor plans are available: 600, 640, and 644, all featuring a vario bathroom and gas hob. Prices start at €80,866.

US manufacturer Polydrops presented the limited-edition P21X caravan in early June 2026, based on the P21 model. It features increased ground clearance (38 cm), independent suspension, and all-terrain tires. The caravan includes a 1,300 W solar panel system, a 5 kWh battery (10 kWh optional), and four berths. Price starts at $76,900; only 20 units will be built. European availability has not been confirmed.
According to the RV Industry Association, US motorhome manufacturers shipped 13.5% fewer units to dealers in January–April 2026 compared to the same period last year. The association lowered its full-year delivery forecast to 300,000–328,100 units, down from 342,200 units in 2025. The decline is linked to a fifth consecutive month of falling consumer spending on recreational goods, the longest such drop since 2008. Consumer registrations of motorhomes fell nearly 22% in March and 17% in April year-over-year.
In late March, Coley Brady reduced the workweek at its motorhome factories in Elkhart, Indiana, from five to four days. This followed a decline in sales during the key spring season, attributed to geopolitical tensions and rising fuel costs.
Jeep has launched limited-edition Wrangler and Gladiator Sarge 2026 models, paying tribute to the 1941 Willys MB military vehicle. Available in Willys and Rubicon trims, they feature two-tone paint, 33-inch BFGoodrich KO2 tires, and military-themed interior details. Orders open in summer 2025; the Wrangler Sarge costs an extra $100, the Gladiator Sarge an extra $500.
The US recreational vehicle (RV) industry is experiencing a downturn as high gasoline and diesel prices (up 33% and 43% respectively), inflation, and a 7.53% loan rate dampen consumer demand. Manufacturers like Alliance RV in Indiana have reduced workweeks on some production lines. RVIA data shows shipments fell 13.5% in the first four months of the year compared to the same period last year, prompting a downward revision of the annual forecast.
Morris Commercial unveiled a pre-production example of the Morris JE electric van at Everything Electric West in the UK. The van features an aluminium skateboard platform with a carbon-fibre body, a 1000 kg payload, and up to 6 cubic metres of cargo volume. Pilot production is slated for 2027, with commercial-scale production in South Wales in 2028. Pricing starts at £69,000 (approx. $131,200 AUD).
Indel B has introduced the Plein-Aircon 12V air conditioner, which runs directly from a 12V battery without requiring an inverter. The unit is designed for the sleeping area of motorhomes, campervans, and vans up to 6 meters in length. In automatic mode, it lowers the temperature from 32°C to 18.5°C within two hours, consuming 10.5 Ah. Three diffuser options are available: Basic, Lightbox, and Ringlight, with the latter two supporting Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for app control.
Heylen Warehouses and Dicar Group Motorhomes have acquired a 4-hectare site in Liessel, Geel, near the E313 highway. The planned development includes a logistics building with approximately 7,160 m² of workshop space, 1,815 m² of mezzanine, and 640 m² of offices, plus parking for 42 cars and 352 motorhomes. The project will centralize warehousing and logistics for Dicar's seven branches, relocate workshop activities, and add a motorhome rental department and a professional photo studio. The B2B unit Camperdeal will also be based there.
In late March, Alliance RV co-founder Coley Brady cut production to four days a week at his factories in Elkhart, Indiana, as spring sales dropped. The ongoing U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran has destabilized global energy markets, raising fuel prices and affecting RV sales. Industry leaders remain optimistic about a recovery, expecting stable fuel costs and higher alternative travel expenses to drive consumers back to RVs.
A former caravan and campervan dealership on a 1.3-acre plot in Lichfield, UK, may revert to its original use as a petrol station. An outline planning application has been submitted to Litchfield District Council for the site, which adjoins the A38 near the M6 Toll. Plans include a 3,300 sq ft forecourt shop, four pump islands, two jet-wash bays, and a 2,150 sq ft vehicle workshop.
