Treffpunkt: Glamping instead of camping — floating villas and treehouses

A startup from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, founded by a business administrator, a business informatics specialist, and an engineer, produces felt products for motorhomes and camper vans. The company has grown to ten employees since its inception.

German tuning studio Dietrich has unveiled the Living Driver Single Cab project based on the DAF XG+ truck. The passenger seat was removed to make room for a sofa, a kitchen unit with a microwave and coffee machine, and a pull-out sink with a hidden toilet. The concept aims to improve working conditions for long-haul drivers amid a chronic shortage of qualified personnel in Europe.

At the Schwenningen campus of Furtwangen University, the Solar Butterfly was showcased — a self-sufficient tiny house on wheels powered by solar energy. The vehicle incorporates 900 kg of recycled ocean plastic, and its solar panels (up to 120 sq m) generate about 120 kWh per day, enough for 220 km of driving. It includes a shower, kitchen, and rainwater purification system. The event was organized by the Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg Skilled Workers Alliance.

Since May 29, 2026, the fourth Wildwood Camping site has been operating in Lychen, Uckermark. The site focuses on nature-oriented camping without entertainment or mass tourism.

Motorhome and camper manufacturer LMC (Lord Münsterland Caravan) is negotiating the reduction of 160 jobs at its Sassenberg plant in North Rhine-Westphalia. The move reflects a post-pandemic demand slump: German registrations fell over 15% year-on-year in 2025–2026. The company, part of Erwin Hymer Group (Thor Industries), is adjusting capacity to market conditions. No final agreement has been reached yet.
