Interest in caravan travel is growing in India as central and state authorities simplify registration and support dedicated parks. Under the AIS-124 rules, a personal caravan can be registered as a private vehicle on white plates, without commercial tax. The governments of Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Kerala subsidise caravan tourism by 25% to 50%. A ready-made caravan costs about 45 lakh rupees, while rental runs from 12,000 to 15,000 rupees per day. Builds must be carried out by certified manufacturers, and interiors include a kitchen, bathroom and solar panels.
