Trip
Vietnamese traveler Trần Đặng Đăng Khoa was in Turkey from early August to late September 2026 as part of a round-the-world road trip. He returned to the country after more than nine years, this time in a small truck with Vietnamese license plates converted into a motorhome. Due to visa restrictions, he could not transit through Syria and Iraq and entered on an e-visa, while his truck arrived by sea at the port of Yaromca near Istanbul.
Route and costs
Khoa visited Ankara, Cappadocia, Trabzon, Antalya and Mardin, staying in free campsites and coastal areas. Among the expenses he noted were a cup of Turkish coffee in central Istanbul at 120 lira, a Museum Pass at 165 euros, and individual museum tickets at 20–30 euros. He said petrol was at times more expensive than in the UK.
Plans
After Turkey, he plans to head to the Caucasus, then across the Caspian to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and possibly Afghanistan. He will spend the winter in Kazakhstan and intends to return the vehicle to Vietnam on 1 June 2027.
