In Denali National Park, Alaska, the Savage Alpine Trail was reopened after being closed due to bear activity. Motorhome travellers used the park's free shuttle, which stops on request along the route from the bus station near the visitor centre to mile 43. The trail is 8 km long with 1,650 feet of elevation gain and is rated hard on AllTrails. The group hiked it in reverse, starting from the Savage River bus stop and finishing at Savage Campsite, while most hikers go the opposite way.
