How to calculate the right capacity for a motorhome power station

A portable power station for a motorhome should be selected based on actual daily energy consumption. For a typical motorhome with a compressor fridge, lighting, laptop and smartphone charging, daily consumption is about 540 Wh. Taking into account conversion losses and reserve, the required capacity is calculated as daily consumption × 1.3 × days of autonomy. For two days without recharging, about 1400 Wh is needed, so a 1000 Wh model lasts one day, while 1500–2000 Wh is recommended for two days. For high consumption (kettle, hairdryer, induction hob), a built-in leisure battery such as a 140 Ah LiFePO4 is advised.
