Hidden Costs of Motorhome Rental

A resident of Haubersbronn moved into a self-sufficient tiny house measuring 20 square meters. The house, costing 280,000 euros, is on wheels, equipped with solar panels, and 90% energy independent. The owner is looking for a permanent plot to place two more similar houses for relatives.

On Saturday evening, Hattingen firefighters extinguished a fully engulfed motorhome on a parking lot in Wodan Valley. Three propane cylinders inside the vehicle required intensive cooling, and the complete burnout of the motorhome could not be prevented. Earlier that day, firefighters used two aerial ladders to rescue a worker stuck at a height of 8-10 meters due to a malfunctioning aerial work platform.

The episode features a meeting with the vintage motorhome "Pamela" and the caravan "Mr. Täbbler" at the Ulmbach reservoir in Greifenstein, where a world record was set on the campsite this year.

The camping season has begun at Lake Constance, with some sites already open. Campgrounds in Lindau, Markdorf, and Allensbach are already welcoming guests, while in Hagnau and Konstanz the season starts on Sunday. The largest site in Kressbronn will open at the end of March. Many sites in Konstanz already report a positive booking situation for the main season.

IMTEST tested the 2023 Hymer Free 600 camper van. The model, based on a Fiat Ducato and measuring 5.99 m in length, features four sleeping places including a pop-up roof and was priced at 78,840 euros at the time of the test.
