French web developer Ronan sold his 60 sq m house in Brest for €112,000 and moved into a used 2005 motorhome purchased for €22,000. He spent €800 on fitting it out. Since spring 2022, he has been traveling and working as a freelancer using mobile internet. His clients are unaware of his lifestyle.
His monthly expenses are around €200 for fuel and €240–300 per year for gas. In winter, he stays at campsites for €20 per night. With a net income of €1,600–1,800 per month, he saves €300–400, which was impossible when he owned a house.
Experts note that this model requires location-independent work, minimalism, and readiness for seasonal costs. In the Netherlands, permanent residence in a motorhome is complicated by tax and administrative restrictions.
