Franck, a Spanish content creator known as 4patasy4ruedas, has lived in a converted van since 2016 and says he has not paid rent for seven years, nor does he pay for electricity or much for water. Sociologist Émilie Auger from the Émile Durkheim Centre in Bordeaux notes a rise in nomadic lifestyles since Covid, and registrations of new motorhomes increased by 8% in 2024-2025. Converting a van into a motorhome can cost between €10,000 and €30,000, excluding the vehicle price.
