Residents of the Scottish Isle of Skye report serious issues caused by the massive influx of camper tourists. According to the BBC, the region receives over 30,000 camper visits annually, yet the island, with a population of about 10,000, has only 10 public toilets. Locals complain that tourists urinate and defecate in front of their homes and on fields, leave used toilet paper, and dump chemical toilet waste into garbage bins and pastures. Farmer Calum Beaton found camper toilet waste in his bin, and his sheepdogs got covered in human excrement. Authorities are considering introducing additional parking fees and creating a network of paid camper parking sites.
