Motorhome route through Malaga and Axarquia: landscapes, history and cuisine

Municipal restrictions on free camping in Cadiz province are tightening, with fines reaching up to 200 euros. Free parking is still available at Punta de San Felipe, near Muelle Reina Sofía, Pascual Pery car park, and Santa Catalina parking in the capital, as well as at Camposoto (San Fernando) and near La Cachucha in Puerto Real. In Tarifa, due to high tourist influx, additional bans apply, especially around the Strait Natural Park and Los Lances area during peak season. Parking is legal only if the vehicle stays on its wheels, no awnings or chairs are deployed, and no waste is discharged; otherwise, it is considered illegal camping.

The coincidence of the Fallas festival, the Garmin Mountain Festival, and cross-country and paragliding events caused an influx of motorhomes and camper vans in Vall de Boí. The municipality exceptionally set up four additional parking zones, including near the football field where parking is normally banned. Overnight stays with awnings and furniture are only allowed at the Pla de l’Ermita lot (30 spaces); other lots permit only compact parking. The episode highlights the growth of motorhome tourism in Lleida: the number of dedicated motorhome spaces in the province rose from 11 in 2022 to 6,739 in 2023.

Spanish brand Panama has introduced the P09 camper van built on the Ford Transit Custom. The model offers five seats and two sleeping areas (150×190 cm and in the pop-up roof). The indicative price in Southern Europe is around €52,900, significantly lower than the Volkswagen California (from €80,000). Equipment includes a kitchen module with a stove and sink, a refrigerator, and a foldable table. Limitations: a 10-liter fresh water tank, no fixed toilet or shower.

The municipality of Ames (Galicia) will hold an ordinary plenary session on May 22 to discuss the municipal drought emergency plan after incorporating corrections requested by Augas de Galicia. Also on the agenda is an ordinance on motorhome parking and overnight stays, aimed at strengthening legal certainty for users and operators and promoting sustainable tourism. Additionally, the council will consider approving a rural road improvement project with a subsidy of €54,446.

Residents of the Villas Caravaning motorhome park in Cartagena have asked the municipality to install individual water meters for each plot. The reason is a community debt of over €700,000 to supplier Veolia, which could lead to a water cut-off. The city council will study the technical feasibility.

The party Fuerteventura Avanza has submitted a proposal to the city council of the island's capital to create a municipal area for grey and black water disposal, fresh water supply, and waste management for motorhomes, caravans, and campers.
