In Brief

A 25-day motorhome route from Rovinj to Dubrovnik, covering Istria, Plitvice Lakes, Split and more. Parking challenges and seasonal prices noted.

The publication describes a 25-day motorhome journey along Croatia's Adriatic coast from Rovinj to Dubrovnik. The route includes Istria, Opatija, Plitvice Lakes, Šibenik, Trogir, Split, Makarska Riviera, Pelješac Peninsula and Dubrovnik. Other versions of the article also mention Rijeka, Pula and Zadar.

It is noted that motorhome parking is limited to campsites and designated zones, which become more expensive in high season. The trip involves difficulties: narrow roads, limited parking options and high campsite prices in season. Recommended travel times are spring, early summer or autumn.

German portal PiNCAMP, which lists over 14,500 campsites in 44 countries, published its list of Europe's most wanted campsites based on German campers' interest on PiNCAMP.de from 1 January to 31 July. The ranking includes campsites with at least four user reviews and an average rating of at least 7 out of 10. Nine campsites from the Kvarner region made the top 100: Kovačine on Cres ranked 19th, Aminess Avalona on Pag 33rd, Omišalj 49th, Čikat on Lošinj 51st, Krk 68th, Ježevac 81st, Lopari 92nd, Baška 94th and Slatina 95th. The highest-ranked Croatian campsite was Valamar Camping Lanterna in Istria at 5th place. Germany, Italy and Croatia were the most sought-after destinations, with the German Baltic Sea coast the most wanted region.

Euronews Travel has published a guide to a motorhome trip along the Croatian coast. The route from Rovinj to Dubrovnik includes national parks, historic towns, and islands, but requires consideration of parking restrictions and seasonality. The article notes that motorhome parking is only allowed at campsites, often far from centers, and travel is difficult in July and August. Recommended times are spring, early summer, or autumn.
