A retired couple from Majorca, Maribel and Vicente, moved from an apartment into a motorhome five years ago. They say this lifestyle saves them about €1,400 a month. Their total budget is roughly €2,000, of which up to €700 goes on diesel fuel, with €150–200 set aside for unexpected expenses.
Selling their car cut costs by €400 a month. Thanks to solar panels and batteries, they generate their own electricity and have almost no other expenses. The move was also linked to Maribel's health issues: the dry climate reduces her pain.
