Class C motorhomes gain popularity in Canada

A fire at Springs RV Resort in Harrison Hot Springs, British Columbia, on Tuesday, June 23, destroyed six trailers. Witnesses reported propane tank explosions. No injuries were confirmed; the cause is under investigation.

Kelowna City Council unanimously approved a $10 fee for the new city-operated RV sanitary dump station, set to open next month on Crowley Avenue. Payment will be via a pay-by-phone app, with fines for non-compliance tied to license plates. The $210,000 facility, included in this year's budget, is expected to recover only 20–50% of costs, prompting some council members to question the low fee.

From July 7, 2025, the EU General Safety Regulation II (GSR II) comes into force. All newly registered motorhomes must be equipped with intelligent speed assistance, driver drowsiness monitoring, alcohol lock pre-installation, and a suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (automatic emergency braking, lane keeping, tire pressure monitoring). Industry experts estimate the added cost per new motorhome at €1,000–€3,000. DIY van converters should register their vehicles before July 7 — after that date, even a used chassis will be treated as a new registration and must comply with all mandatory systems.

Espaces.ca has compiled a list of ten camping destinations in Quebec's national parks. The selection includes Lac-Caché campground in Mont-Tremblant park with 24 sites, Grands-Jardins park with four camping and glamping areas, and Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie park with sites accessible only by bike or canoe. Since June 2022, Pointe-Taillon park has added 18 rustic sites on islands in Lake Saint-Jean, reachable only by kayak or shuttle.

The Kramer family, operators of Bradsdadsland Family Campground on Hornby Island, purchased the 62-site Beachcomber RV Park in Central Saanich, British Columbia. The deal closed on March 24, 2026. The park was originally purchased by businessman John Chew in 1966 and opened to the public in 1986 after Expo '86. New owners plan only modest additions (an amenities building and playground), aiming to preserve the historic landscape and character of the waterfront campground.
