Habitation door

Layout & Interior Europe

Habitation door, hab door, side entry door, motorhome side door, RV entrance door, Hartal door, Heki door

A habitation door is the dedicated side door into the living area of a motorhome (typically right-hand side in continental Europe, left-hand side for the UK). It is separate from the driver/passenger cab doors. Equipped with a triple seal, a multi-point lock, a window with a fly screen and a blackout blind.

Typical width 600–700 mm, height 1700–1900 mm. Door quality is one of the clearest indicators of motorhome class: cheap ABS doors sag after 2–3 years, premium Hartal/Heki doors last for decades. Common features: interior dome light, parcel holder, optional remote electric lock. When inspecting a used motorhome, check geometry — the gap should not vary by more than 2 mm around the seal.
