California Vineyards Turn to RV Camping Amid Grape Surplus

From April 1 to October 31, New Brighton State Beach, one of California's most popular beachfront campgrounds, will charge early arrivals $10 per parking space due to high volume and limited parking for larger RVs. Early parking is available only at Seacliff (Upper day use lot) or Manresa Main State Beaches, subject to availability. The campground has 11 RV hookup sites with electricity only, a maximum consecutive stay of seven days followed by a 48-hour absence, and a 30-day annual limit. A $10 fee applies for dump station use, and discount pass holders must present their card and photo ID at check-in.

Emergency crews were dispatched to a report of a person trapped under a motorhome on Pine Road in Paradise Township, western York County, Pennsylvania, at about 7:08 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026, according to York County 911 records. By around 7:19 p.m., the York County Coroner's Office was added to the incident. Several units from the York County Advanced Technical Rescue team were initially dispatched but later cleared, though a chief officer remained on the scene. Firefighters from United Hook & Ladder were assisted by Adams Regional EMS and the York County Advanced Technical Rescue Team. Pine Road is a rural road on the far western edge of York County, just outside Abbottstown Borough. Further information was not immediately available.

Canadian camper van manufacturer Pleasure-Way has introduced its first travel trailer, the Everbound, at the Hershey RV Show in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The trailer features a riveted aluminum structure with bonded fiberglass panels and Azdel composite interior panels, eliminating lauan plywood and other moisture-prone materials. It measures 21 feet 5 inches long with 6 feet 6 inches of headroom, weighs 5,800 pounds, and has a 1,900-pound carrying capacity. Equipment includes a 460Ah lithium battery, 500-watt solar, a Xantrex 3000-watt inverter, a Truma VarioHeat 11,500 BTU furnace, and a Truma Aventa Eco 13,500 BTU air conditioner. The price is $90,870.

The Seattle City Council is considering legislation that would pair assistance for people living in motorhomes and travel trailers with stricter parking rules. The Vehicle Resident Assistance Program would direct $5 million in already-budgeted city funding toward outreach, safe parking lots, vehicle storage, and services to connect vehicle residents with shelter and housing. Most motorhomes and travel trailers would be limited to two hours of street parking and prohibited from overnight parking citywide, except for those with a new city permit. To obtain a permit, residents must be identified in a one-time city census, own the vehicle, stay connected with service providers, and follow rules on registration, waste disposal, and noise. Permit holders could park overnight only in designated industrial areas for up to 72 hours, and permits could be revoked after six refusals of shelter, storage, or housing offers.

Several RVs caught fire Monday evening at Lebanon Valley Dragway in New Lebanon, New York. The blaze destroyed three RVs and damaged another, according to the dragway's management; it was contained to a paved area outside the racetrack near the clubhouse. The fire also caused a power outage at the facility, which was still ongoing as of Tuesday afternoon. Dragway manager Wayne Delmonte said the fire began at 5:38 p.m. and no one was injured. New York State Police and Fire are investigating; the cause remains unknown. The raceway will open as planned on Wednesday.

Starting with the 2027 summer season, reservations for five Yellowstone campgrounds—Bridge Bay, Canyon, Grant, Madison and Fishing Bridge RV Park—will be handled through Recreation.gov instead of the park’s concessionaire. The concessionaire will continue to manage the campgrounds, but campers will be able to reserve individual sites rather than accept an assigned loop. Reservations for 2027 will open approximately six months in advance. Bookings for 2026 remain with the concessionaire; Bridge Bay, Canyon and Grant Village have already closed or are closing in September.
