42-Night Motorhome Journey Ends in Nara

In Taketa, Oita Prefecture, Grand Park Nagayu RV Park offers overnight parking for motorhomes with a 24-hour free-flowing bicarbonate spring. Japanese convenience store chain Lawson is expanding its RV Park programme, which allows overnight stays in vehicles at store parking lots. On 9 October 2026, the service will launch for the first time in Gifu Prefecture (4 stores) and Mie Prefecture (5 stores), bringing the total to 37 locations. Further openings are planned for late October in Oita, Saga and Nagasaki, and in November in Tokyo, Kanagawa, Kagawa, Tokushima, Ehime, Kochi and Miyagi. The company aims to operate around 70 such sites by the end of fiscal 2026. A pitch costs between 2500 and 3000 yen per night, with check-in from 15:00 to 22:00 and check-out by 10:00 the next day. Each booking includes two parking spaces, a loan of an electric cable reel and free disposal of one bag of food waste.
