Tamaulipas proposes regulating RVs and ATVs on beaches after teen's death

Deputy Gabriela Guadalupe Martínez Vázquez introduced a bill to regulate the circulation of off-road recreational vehicles in protected natural areas of San Luis Potosí. The initiative includes restricting ATVs and motorcycles in ecologically sensitive zones, creating a registry of service providers, establishing authorized routes, and mandatory training for operators. The bill does not ban adventure tourism but sets rules to balance recreation with conservation.

In the San Carlos neighborhood of Nogales, Sonora, private security personnel detained a man suspected of stealing from a motorhome. The incident occurred at 9:49 AM when employees of ZB Mantenimientos y Servicios observed the suspect exiting a motorhome belonging to one of the workers. He attempted to flee but was caught and handed over to municipal police. Daniel G., 48, was found in possession of two cell phones, an electric razor, and a wristwatch, identified by the owner.

The Seventh World Vocho Day Caravan will take place on June 21 in Morelia, with over 200 vehicles already registered. Organizers expect up to 600 participants from various municipalities and states. The gathering starts at 11:00 AM at Plaza Las Américas, followed by a caravan to the historic center for an exhibition in front of the Cathedral. The event has official permits and police support.

On June 18, 2026, a woman was killed during an attempted robbery on the Toluca-Palmillas highway in Querétaro, Mexico. She was traveling in the camper of a pickup truck when armed suspects tried to force the vehicle to stop. The driver accelerated, triggering a chase during which shots were fired. One bullet struck the woman in the rear compartment. The driver stopped at a gas station in El Marqués, where paramedics confirmed her death. No arrests have been made; the investigation is ongoing.

As part of the Héroes Paisanos program, the Migrantes Unidos caravan, comprising 402 vehicles and about two thousand people, entered Mexico through the border in Nuevo Laredo. The Tamaulipas State Guard, together with the National Guard, traffic police and other agencies, provided security along Federal Highway 85 to the Nuevo León border. The measures aim to ensure safe and orderly movement of participants.

On Tuesday, a motorhome was completely destroyed by fire on federal highway 180 near La Baina (Santiago Tuxtla–San Andrés Tuxtla section). Traffic was temporarily closed; no injuries reported. Cause of the fire is under investigation.
