Spain has introduced stricter ITV inspection rules for motorhomes and campervans. Driving with an expired inspection carries a €200 fine, while driving a vehicle that has failed inspection can result in a €500 fine and immediate immobilization. The measures follow a 185% surge in motorhome registrations since 2015, from 48,000 to nearly 137,000. For camperized vans (category N), inspections become mandatory every six months after the vehicle turns ten years old. Local authorities have also gained more power to restrict parking and prohibit urban camping.
