Small-Town Campsite Board Faces Lawsuit From Local Caravan Park Over Competition Concerns

A caravan park has been refused retrospective planning permission for new signage. Three signs were installed at Silver Carrs Coastal Park at Low Hauxley, near Amble. Hauxley Parish Council objected, stating the signs were in conflict with local planning policy due to inappropriate location, size, and design. Planning officers deemed the front entrance sign unacceptable due to its excessive size and visual prominence relative to neighboring houses, and noted the signs had shifted in high winds due to insufficient foundations.

Lisa Ennis filed a civil claim against the owner of Hollins Caravan Park in Quatford, alleging she paid £10,000 for an unfit caravan and another £10,000 for rent and repairs without warning. The defendant denies all allegations; the case has been adjourned.
