The European Commission proposes raising the maximum permissible mass for category B license holders from 3.5 to 4.25 tonnes. The change aims to accommodate heavier electric vehicles, whose batteries add significant weight. Drivers will need at least two years of experience, and motorhome operation may require additional training. The reform is expected to take effect by the end of the decade.
