Turkish authorities have launched a mass removal of illegally installed tiny houses in the Marmara and Aegean Sea regions. Since March 2026, inspections have been tightened: structures fixed to the ground or connected to utilities are classified as unauthorized buildings.
In the provinces of Bursa, Muğla, Edirne and Çanakkale, houses are being demolished, disconnected from infrastructure and removed. Owners face financial losses and legal risks, including fines and lawsuits. The key reason is a change in status: a mobile home fixed to the ground and connected to utilities is considered a building requiring a permit.
