Norwegian authorities discovered a trailer with Polish license plates that were registered to a Polish motorhome, not the trailer itself. The driver was reported for document forgery after a control at Ånestad on Løten revealed the trailer's chassis number was hidden and it was actually Norwegian. The vehicle was immobilized and will not be allowed to drive with the false plates.

Will motorhomes soon require a tachograph?

The European Commission has clarified that EU member states can exempt privately used motorhomes and motorhome-trailer combinations over 7.5 tonnes from mandatory tachograph rules. This follows a proposal that would have affected vehicles towing a trailer or with a special loading device, impacting approximately 4,700 vehicles in Germany. The decision aims to reduce costs and legal uncertainty for private users, with industry associations calling for swift national implementation.

Rental motorhome market grows in Tromsø ahead of summer

Three companies in Tromsø — Touring Cars, Indie Campers, and Arctic Campers — plan to have around 150 vehicles on the roads this season. Touring Cars, established in Tromsø in 2022, reported revenue of NOK 36 million and operating profit of NOK 4.7 million. Arctic Campers noted a slight decline in advance bookings, attributing it to new market entrants and uncertainty around travel and fuel. The majority of renters are international tourists, many on their first motorhome trip.
