The Swedish government has proposed allowing passenger cars with trailers to travel at up to 100 km/h on motorways and expressways. The change, which could take effect on March 1, 2027, would not apply to all vehicles: five requirements must be met, including the trailer's gross weight not exceeding 80% of the car's kerb weight and passing a special suitability inspection. Currently, the maximum speed for such combinations is usually 80 km/h.
