Tension over caravan parking is growing in Turkey due to a lack of equipped facilities. In the Bozüyük district (Bilecik Province), owners have begun spontaneously parking their motorhomes on a regular city parking lot in the 4 Eylül quarter. Local authorities note that the lack of infrastructure (electricity, water, waste disposal) hinders the development of caravan tourism, even though the area is advantageously located on popular routes.
Meanwhile, the municipality of Abana (Kastamonu Province) took a different approach: it banned caravan parking in the district center and other unauthorized zones. Owners are required to remove their vehicles by June 22. Designated parking areas include Yeşilyuva Tabiat Parkı and Kent Ormanı Seyir Terası. Violators face legal sanctions, with municipal inspectors enforcing the rules.
The issue has also been raised at the national level: members of the Caravan Manufacturers and Suppliers Association (KAİTED) gathered in Aydın, demanding the creation of equipped caravan parks. Association representatives emphasized that users need not a camping site but a parking area with access to electricity, water, and waste disposal points. They stated their reluctance to travel under constant fines and eviction, calling on municipalities to create zones with reasonable fees and oversight.
