Italy's D.P.R. 73/2026 has taken effect, streamlining rules for placing mobile homes, caravans and motorhomes in campsites and tourist villages. Operators can now add new accommodation units without repeatedly seeking complex landscape permits, provided the facility already holds all required building and environmental authorisations. However, mobile homes and caravans must remain genuinely mobile: no permanent foundations, and utility connections must be temporary. Minor infrastructure upgrades, such as laying pipes or installing electric columns, also benefit from faster procedures, as long as the maximum guest capacity is not increased and no new masonry buildings are constructed.
