An administrative court has ordered the communes of La Faute-sur-Mer and Longeville-sur-Mer in Vendée to dismantle barriers and signs restricting the passage and parking of motorhomes. The installation of the barriers was deemed illegal, as they are only permitted to prevent real danger, not to restrict access to parking.
The sign showing a crossed-out motorhome is not provided for in French traffic regulations. The court also ruled that a parking ban for motorhomes can only be enforced if there is a corresponding municipal decree. However, the court acknowledged that a motorhome is not an ordinary vehicle due to its suitability for living, which allows communes to impose bans if proper procedures are followed.
