Toyota presents JUNO compact van based on Sienta

The Japan RV Association is promoting a network of paid overnight parking facilities for motorhomes, designed to address safety concerns and bans on long-term parking. One such facility, RV Park ASAHI in Aomori City, offers up to four spaces, electricity, 24-hour toilets, and allows pets. The park is situated in a residential area, providing a sense of privacy, and is convenient for visiting Aomori and Hirosaki.

Japanese actress and TV personality Akiko Matsumoto opened a motorhome rental franchise in Tokyo in March 2021. Her company 'Office AMS' offers 24-hour camper van rentals for 5000 yen on weekdays, which is below the market average. The business launched during the pandemic and remains minimally profitable.

A demo version for the motorhome life game Outbound has been released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The demo features exploration, motorhome customization, gardening, and cooperative play for up to four players. The full version is scheduled for release on April 23, 2026, for PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PC.

According to Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Michi-no-Eki are rest facilities where short naps for driving safety are permitted, but overnight stays are prohibited. Overnight stays are only allowed at dedicated, paid RV Parks, which are available at approximately 50 out of 1200 such stations.

Japan's motorhome market may grow from $1.8 billion to $4.5 billion by 2033. An annual growth rate of 10.5% is expected, driven by domestic tourism and demand for self-sufficient travel. The Kanto region dominates the market, while Kyushu and Okinawa show the fastest growth.

A new motorhome priced from 8.5 million yen was spotted in a Tokyo public housing parking lot. Residents of such housing must meet low-income criteria, and parking spaces are typically limited to 1.8 meters wide and 5 meters long, which is smaller than many motorhomes.
