SpaceX Project Could Spur RV Park Growth in Louisiana

Winnebago has officially unveiled its new off-road motorhome Arka, which joins the Backcountry Series. The model is built on a Ram 5500 Crew Cab frame chassis with all-wheel drive and a diesel engine, can tow trailers weighing up to 6.8 tons, and is designed for temperatures ranging from -23 to +49 degrees Celsius. Thanks to a 48-volt electrical architecture with a 16.8 kWh lithium battery, retractable solar panels with a total output of 800 W, and a 227-liter fresh water tank, the camper provides full autonomy for 14 days. The interior accommodates six people, with four sleeping berths. The starting price is $331,901.

Government-run campgrounds, such as those in national parks, impose strict stay limits: Yosemite allows up to 30 nights off-season and 14 nights during peak season (May to early September), with no more than half of those nights in Yosemite Valley. Private RV parks more often permit long-term stays, typically via monthly reservations, but may cap the total duration. Monthly rates can reach $3,000, and even that does not ensure a permanent spot.

A Pleasant Prairie resident says complying with the Village’s recreational vehicle ordinance cost him over $2,000 — and now, he wants to see the rules changed. Dennis Koch, a 50-year resident, received a notice to move his trailer from the front yard to the backyard, then was required to screen it with a fence, costing $2,500 plus a $50 permit. The village’s current rules prohibit parking RVs, boats, and trailers in driveways, requiring storage in side or rear yards with a 6-foot-high solid-panel fence. A petition started by another resident, Karl Krienke, has gathered over 400 signatures, prompting the Village Board to review the ordinance.

The final encore airing of season 7 of The RVers begins Sunday at 8:30 a.m. EST on Destination America. The season features Chris and Aaron Willers joining a Fantasy RV Tours caravan through the Canadian Maritimes, covering over 2,000 miles in a month. Season 8 premieres Oct. 4 on Discovery Channel.

The Palo Alto City Council voted to allow RV dwellers to park on two edges of the city, rejecting a more restrictive proposal for business and residential areas. Permits will be available on Coyote Hill Road and Embarcadero Road, but they will cover less than half of the city's 130 RV dwellers. The council also declined to limit parking on 22 of the most affected blocks. Residents expressed frustration over the lack of action, with some considering a citizen's initiative to ban RVs citywide. The permit program includes insurance requirements, a good neighbor agreement, and a $15 monthly fee.

US manufacturer SylvanSport has unveiled the VIRE caravan, measuring 5.95 meters, with a near-cubic body that accommodates a king-size bed, a full wet bath, and a kitchen. Two versions are offered from $59,995, with deliveries expected in late 2026.
