A planning application has been lodged to change the use of about 1.58 hectares of former golf course land at Unity Beach Holiday Park in Brean, Somerset, for 30 static holiday caravans. The site, in the northern part of the resort, became surplus after the course was reconfigured as a 9-hole layout. The application includes internal access roads, parking, decking, drainage and biodiversity enhancements. The site lies entirely within Flood Zone 3, and the plans propose raised caravan bases, flood resilience measures, an evacuation route and an attenuation basin. The owners estimate the extra units could generate £750,000 to £1.6 million a year in visitor spending and cite the closure of the neighbouring former Pontins Brean Sands site, which removed more than 800 holiday units.
