Objectors question caravan park overhaul as 59 static bases go before planners

Oxfordshire police have recovered a caravan seven years after it was stolen from Nottinghamshire in 2019. The white caravan was found in the Banbury area on Thursday, September 17, during proactive checks of caravans and leisure vehicles. In July, Thames Valley Police found a caravan stolen from Germany, and the previous month another was found near Banbury railway station, reported stolen from Hampshire in 2019.

The owners of two caravan parks in Ceredigion have received awards for both sites. Wern Mill Caravan Park was named Best Coastal Caravan Park 2026 in West Wales at the Welsh Enterprise Awards, and also received a Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award for 2026 and an ‘Outstanding Site for 2026’ rating from Campsites.co.uk with a score of 4.93 out of five and a 98 per cent would recommend approval rating. Its sister park Llanina Caravan Park, which opened in March 2026, has been awarded a five-star rating by Visit Wales. Both parks are run by the Evans family.

Pembrokeshire County Council has refused retrospective permission for a glamping pod at a rural caravan site near Kilgetty. The application, submitted by Janice Palin, sought to retain the pod and change the use of land for short-term visitor accommodation at Woodstock, Cold Inn. The site is a Caravan and Motorhome Club Certificated Location with a capacity of five caravans or motorhomes. The refusal was based on the pod not relating to an enterprise for which a countryside location is essential and introducing new residential development for holiday accommodation in an area where it is not permitted; the application also lacked a Green Infrastructure Statement.

Sean and Brad Marles Newman lost their home when a fire destroyed their static caravan at Penvose Farm in Tregurrian, near Newquay, on September 15 at about 11am. The blaze also damaged caravans on either side and took fire crews over two hours to bring under control. The couple, both 26, have moved into temporary accommodation. Relatives launched a GoFundMe with a £4,000 target; £787 has been raised so far. The whereabouts of their cat Diego remain unknown.

Cheshire Police's rural crime team seized a touring caravan at an address in Warrington after an examination revealed it had been stolen from Bedfordshire in 2019. The caravan, valued at around £7,300, is being returned to the relevant insurance company. Police are tracing the chain of ownership to determine when the caravan's identification markings were altered, and have advised second-hand buyers to check VIN numbers against paperwork and inspect security labels.

Redline Campers, the brand from Daventry-based Venture Caravans & Motorhomes, will unveil a new model at the Motorhome & Caravan Show, taking place at the NEC from 13 to 18 October 2026. Based on the latest Volkswagen Transporter, the new model features a GRP roof, a 100% cotton roof canvas by French tent manufacturer Cabanon, and the Régis Rive bed previously exclusive to the Explorer. The launch coincides with the brand's tenth anniversary, which will be marked in 2027. The Explorer will make its NEC debut, and updated Sport GT and Sport GT XS models will gain a lithium leisure battery and an elevating roof bed platform.
