2025 results
According to data from the Caravanning Industry Association (CIVD) presented at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, Germany recorded around 56 million overnight stays at organised campsites in 2025 (up 13%) and another 20 million overnight stays at dedicated motorhome pitches. The total economic activity linked to caravanning reached almost €23 billion, compared with around €21 billion in 2024, of which €7.8 billion is estimated to go directly to local tourism economies.
2026 registrations
From January to July 2026, 63,329 new leisure vehicles were registered in Germany, 3% fewer than in the same period last year, including 50,118 motorhomes (-3.3%) and 13,211 caravans (-1.9%). In Europe, more than 149,000 units were registered in the same period, virtually unchanged (-0.1%).
