14-metre caravan with sauna and ice maker fails to find buyer

Swedish brand Polar built a single unit of the Polar Glacier 'Black Beast' caravan in 2008, measuring 14 metres in length and featuring a sauna, dishwasher, ice maker and four berths. With a kerb weight of 3,400 kg and a maximum authorised mass of 3,500 kg, the payload is only 100 kg. The caravan does not comply with European road regulations (maximum trailer length in the Czech Republic is 12 metres) and has had a driving ban in Sweden since December 2025. The original price was around €125,000, but at auctions in October 2025 the highest bid reached SEK 294,000 (approx. CZK 650,000) and in May 2026 SEK 83,000, without meeting the seller's reserve price.

Motorhome dealer Krohns Husbilar posted a 52.6% revenue increase in 2025, reaching SEK 12.5 million. Pre-tax profit rose to SEK 300,000 from SEK 80,000, according to its annual report.

Swedish truck manufacturer Scania has introduced a motorhome built on its own chassis. Unlike converted vans, the vehicle features a complete living module designed for long-distance travel. Specifications include extended range, spacious interior, and off-road capability. The model is marketed as a self-sufficient travel solution.

According to the annual report by Svensk Camping, interest in camping in Sweden has been steadily increasing, with 2025 setting a record for visitor numbers. Motorhomes remain the most popular vehicle type. In Enköping, campsites in Bredsand and Härjarö experienced such high demand that new pitches had to be built urgently. Härjarö gård campsite, closed for 15 years, reopened in early summer after renovations, with peak crowds during the opening weekend and Midsummer.

A Swedish motorhome owner had to cancel a trip to Croatia after his vehicle was found to be overloaded by 475 kg. According to the registration certificate, the motorhome has a gross vehicle weight of 3,500 kg and a kerb weight of 3,080 kg, leaving 420 kg for fuel, passengers, luggage and water. The vehicle was not fully loaded: the tank contained only 20% diesel, 75% water, and no seasonal items. The overload exceeded 13.5%.

A multi-vehicle collision involving a motorhome and two cars occurred on road 34 near Målilla, Hultsfred municipality. The accident happened shortly after 11 a.m. on Saturday in the northbound lane. One person was taken to hospital with reportedly minor injuries. The road is closed in both directions until 1:30 p.m. for rescue and recovery work; traffic is being diverted.
