Annex to unveil LIBERTY52REi camper prototype at Japan Camper Show

UI Vehicle showcased wide-angle door mirrors for the sixth-generation and newer Toyota HiAce at the Tokyo Camping Car Show 2026. The mirrors aim to improve visibility, a known issue for the model. The event took place on July 11–12, 2026, at Tokyo Big Sight.

As hotel costs in Japan surge, travelers increasingly turn to night trains and camper rentals to combine transport and accommodation. According to Nippon TV, JR West's night train West Express Ginga covers Kyoto to Shingu in 12 hours for 8,670 yen. JR East is developing a new night service from Shinagawa to Aomori (12.5–15 hours), and JR Central will run a special night Shinkansen on the Tokyo–Shin-Osaka route. Average hotel rates for two in central Tokyo have risen 70% over seven years. A 24-hour camper rental for four people costs about 38,000 yen, making it a cost-effective option. One camper rental agency reported bookings 3.3 times higher than last year.

JAPAN C.R.C. has started offering camper vans equipped with household air conditioners as mobile rest areas for construction and roadwork sites. The vehicles can be rented from about 40 locations nationwide at a corporate rate starting from 14,900 yen per day (tax included). The service aims to replace the labor-intensive installation of prefabricated huts and help employers comply with new mandatory heatstroke prevention measures that took effect on June 1, 2025.

At the Tokyo Camping Car Show 2026, Nissan Peas Field Craft presented the Brillante camper conversion based on the Nissan Caravan Super Long. It features a 100V household air conditioner, Webasto heater, large roof vent, and a multi-purpose room with shower and optional portable toilet. The sleeping area measures 1500×1830 mm, formed by folding the sofa and opposite seat. Interior height is 2400 mm.

Toy Factory has introduced the Joya camper based on the Fiat Ducato (L2H2). The model debuted in 2025, seats five and sleeps five. A test drive was conducted at Sagamiko MORIMORI circuit.

Kato Motor and Sanjo Mitsubishi have unveiled the NOCTI camper van based on the Mitsubishi Delica D:5. It features a 600 Ah lithium-ion battery, a 12V air conditioner, and a fold-flat bed for two adults. The model debuted at the Tokyo Camping Car Show 2026 in July 2026.
