Fire in Calvados
On the evening of June 20, a standalone caravan caught fire near the Caen–la-Mer canal in Hérouville-Saint-Clair (Calvados). Firefighters arrived around 19:50 and extinguished the flames using a water cannon. No injuries were reported.
Tidal stranding on the Gois
Around 12:00 on June 11, a car towing a caravan became trapped by the rising tide on the Passage du Gois (Passage du Gois), the tidal causeway linking Noirmoutier island to the mainland. The driver managed to reach dry land before rescuers arrived. Emergency services cordoned off the vehicle, which was about 150 metres from the shore. The operation was completed by 14:00. Between 15 and 30 such incidents occur on this stretch each year.
