Kat, 50, deputy head teacher at Turriff Academy, was involved in a collision on the A95 near Banff four days after taking part in a charity abseil at Murrayfield Stadium. A campervan pulled out in front of her vehicle, causing the campervan to flip onto its side. Kat suffered a fractured sternum and severe whiplash, and was flown to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) in 15 minutes. She noted the irony of needing the service she had just fundraised for.
