Motorhome crashes
On June 18 around 5 a.m. on a dual carriageway between Montaigu and La Roche-sur-Yon (Vendée), a car rear-ended a motorhome. The motorhome overturned and stopped on the hard shoulder. Several people were taken to hospital; traffic jams formed.
On May 23 on the RN19 road in Pomoy, a motorhome and a car collided. Seven people sustained minor injuries. Local authorities had previously expressed concern about the accident rate on this stretch, dubbed the "road of death", and requested a speed camera.
Fires
On May 23 in the hamlet of Vernechabre (Craponne-sur-Arzon), a 30 m² yurt in a wooded area caught fire. The flames spread to a nearby motorhome and partially damaged an SUV. Gas cylinders exploded. The 51-year-old owner suffered burns to his hands and back and was evacuated in serious condition to Émile-Roux hospital. 26 firefighters were deployed; an investigation has been opened.
On the same day in Longeville-sur-Mer (Vendée), a motorhome caught fire. 17 firefighters arrived to find the vehicle fully engulfed, with partial spread to a forest (20 m²). The owner sustained minor burns and was taken to Les Sables-d'Olonne hospital.
