An RV fire on the Coquihalla Highway (Highway 5) south of Kamloops on July 23 around 2:00 p.m. caused a small grassfire and closed one southbound lane. According to Drive BC, the closure extends 12.7 km between Chuwhels Mountain Road and Inks Lake Road. The incident occurred near the Lac Le Jeune Road/Inks Lake Road turnoff.
BC Wildfire Service reported the fire covered 0.009 hectares and is believed to be human-caused. By 3:50 p.m., the fire was under control, but vehicle recovery continues, keeping the right lane closed. Kamloops police urge drivers to slow down and follow emergency personnel directions. Firefighters and ambulance are on scene.
