Unexpected Discovery: Stranger in Bed

A caravan was destroyed by fire on Saturday evening in the parking lot of the Asecs shopping center. The incident occurred around 23:00 amid a large crowd, but no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains unclear.

The Västra kajen campground in Piteå is completely full of Norwegian motorhomes during the Easter holidays. All 70 spots are occupied, which has been a traditional occurrence during this period since the 1980s.

Fire and rescue services and police were called to a motorhome fire along the E4 highway in Kalix municipality. The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames with no one nearby. Police have filed a report for vandalism, with no suspects identified.

A former Volvo B10M blood donation bus from 2001 is being sold as a conversion project into a motorhome. The vehicle has traveled approximately 27,000 miles, features a corrosion-free chassis, and has a fully opening rear section for cargo transport. The asking price for the project is 239,500 Swedish kronor.

Motorhome sales continue to rise. New registrations increased by 68% in March compared to the same month last year, with an 85% growth since the start of the year. Sales of caravans, however, have fallen by 36% over the same period.

In March 2026, 597 motorhomes were registered, a 68% increase compared to March 2025. The cumulative growth for the first three months of the year reached 84.8%, although some registrations are linked to new emission requirements and have not yet been sold to end consumers. Meanwhile, caravan registrations for March fell to 115 units, with a quarterly decline of 35.9%.
