Around 150 caravans illegally set up in village near Strasbourg

On RMC, a discussion addressed the issue of wild parking and litter left by motorhome owners. Participants, including journalists Carine Galli, Benjamin Müller, and Morad Aït-Habbouche, examined whether motorhomes have become a nuisance for local residents. A resident of the Gard department spent eight months and €20,000 converting a Renault Trafic into a camper. The project involved insulation, furniture, and interior fittings, enabling the owner to travel without pre-booking accommodation.

From September 5 to 13, 2026, three Hunyvers dealerships (Bourges St-Doulchard, Bourges-Charité, and Bourges St-Germain du Puy) will jointly exhibit their motorhomes and camper vans at the 81st Vierzon fair in France. The event will take place at the Parc des Expositions, featuring over 150 exhibitors, concerts, and Italian cuisine. The fair is open daily from 10:00 to 20:00, with late opening on September 11 until 21:30 and early closure on September 13 at 19:00.

Antilope Van unveiled two new models at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf: the Flex 2 and Flex 3, both based on the Renault Trafic L1H1. The Flex 3 replaces the Flex Plus, while the Flex 2 serves as a new entry-level option. Both models feature compact dimensions (5.08 m long, under 2 m high) and an increased fresh water tank capacity of 60 liters. The Flex 2 starts at €44,900, and the Flex 3 at €52,900. French debuts are scheduled for the Saint-Brieuc fair (September 12–20) and the Camper Van Week End in Chantilly (October 9–11).

Camping Le Verger in Dompierre-sur-Mer has inaugurated a year-round motorhome area with 20 pitches. The facility was officially opened on August 4 in the presence of the mayor and the president of Charentes Tourisme. The area features hedges between pitches, a central island with a carbet (Creole shelter), picnic tables, a pétanque court, and 300 trees and shrubs. During June, July, and August, the area is integrated into the campsite with access to all services; the rest of the year it operates autonomously via a payment terminal. Rates are €15.50 per night from Easter to All Saints' Day and €12.50 from All Saints' Day to Easter, plus tourist tax. The campsite has no mobile homes or rental accommodations, only pitches for tents, caravans, vans, and motorhomes. 60% of clients are British, Dutch, and German.

In Meilhan-sur-Garonne, an automated motorhome area operated by Camping-car Park has been open 24/7 since July 1, 2026. The municipality spent €86,000 on modernization, expecting payback in about seven years. A 24-hour stay costs €14.54, with a €5 digital subscription. Some locals and the former manager criticize the system for being impersonal and reducing visitor numbers.
