Middlesbrough resident Lewis Rudd has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison for assaulting his girlfriend in a caravan at Thornwick Bay holiday village, Flamborough, near Bridlington. The court found that Rudd, intoxicated, stormed into the bedroom, woke the sleeping woman, dragged her from bed, strangled her until she lost consciousness, punched and stamped on her. The victim escaped through a bathroom window, sustaining injuries to her head, neck, and chest. Rudd denied the charges but was convicted by a jury.
