A video showing a motorhome blocking a narrow road in the village of Llanbedr, Gwynedd, has reignited calls for a bypass. Residents have been seeking Welsh Government funding for 60 years. The incident also sparked discussion about driving standards and the need for additional training for drivers of large motorhomes.
An initial £14 million bypass project was approved in 2020 but cancelled in 2021 after a climate review. In November 2024, engineers proposed an alternative — a 40 mph road costing £39.4 million — but funding has not yet been allocated.
