On Wednesday, July 15, at around 19:00, a caravan caught fire while being towed on Highway 7 in Virolahti. The flames spread to the towing van. According to the Kymenlaakso rescue service, the fire started in the caravan and then spread to the van.
The driver and a passenger managed to pull over and exit the vehicle before it was fully engulfed. No injuries were reported. Both vehicles were completely destroyed.
Five fire units from Kymenlaakso, along with crews from Hamina and Karhula fire stations, responded to the scene. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
