In Castres (Tarn), around a hundred caravans of travellers illegally occupied a sports field during evangelical celebrations. The mayor cut off water and electricity after they refused to leave, causing damage to a transformer and fences worth several thousand euros.
As a result, a rugby tournament for 800 teenagers was cancelled. The US Castres Football club plans to hold a youth tournament with 400 players, despite the mayor's concerns about damage and water supply issues. A court decision on the evacuation of the caravans is expected on June 19.
